ASUS brings Augmented Reality to Smartphones

Asus has launched ZenFone AR, the world’s first smartphone that is Tango-enabled and Daydream-ready. To the uninitiated, Tango (earlier Project Tango) is Google’s effort in augmented reality, while Daydream is Google’s virtual reality platform with supporting hardware and Daydream VR apps.

The phone sports a class-leading 8GB RAM and has 128 GB internal storage along with support to expandable storage. The device uses ASUS TriCam system, a three-camera system consisting of a 23MP main camera, motion-tracking camera and depth-sensing camera, integrated in a slim and light device. The PixelMaster 3.0 camera uses a Sony IMX318 image sensor. The camera unit features four-axis optical image stabilisation (OIS) photo and three-axis electronic image stabilization (EIS) video stabilisation.

The heart of the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 CPU that has been optimised for Tango and Daydream. The phone uses a 5.7-inch WQHD (2K, 1440 x 2560) Super AMOLED display and runs on Android7.0 (Nougat). The device also features Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 superfast battery charging. It also features the desktop-class Qualcomm Adreno 530 graphics-processing unit (GPU) to deliver supercharged graphics performance.

The ZenFone AR comes with ASUS SonicMaster 3.0 technology with a five-magnet speaker and NXP smart amplifier. With ZenFone AR and Daydream View, users can explore new worlds with apps like Street View and Fantastic Beasts, kick back in a personal VR cinema with YouTube VR and Netflix, and get in the game with Gunjack 2, Need for Speed and more.

The Asus Zenfone AR (Black, 128 GB) will be available exclusively on Flipkart at Rs.49,999.
